Side effects & safety
Based on published research and prescribing information: Zepbound® prescribing information (Lilly) · FDA: concerns with unapproved GLP-1 drugs. Your clinician reviews your personal risks before prescribing.
Nausea support
Nausea is the most common side effect when you start or raise a GLP-1 dose, and for most women it eases with time. Small changes help first: smaller meals, eating slowly, stopping before you're full, and going easy on greasy food.
If nausea still gets in the way, your clinician may prescribe generic ondansetron (Zofran), an anti-nausea tablet. It blocks the serotonin signals that trigger nausea. It's FDA-approved for nausea from chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, so using it for GLP-1 nausea is an off-label use your clinician will talk through with you. It can cause headache and constipation, and it isn't right for everyone, including people with certain heart rhythm problems.
